ABOUT FRIENDS OF OLD SUGAR LAND

Friends of Old Sugar Land was Established 1991 for residents of "The Hill", Sugar Land's first and finest community.

Homes in The Hill date back to 1905 and were built by the Imperial Sugar Company for their workers. The Hill has approximately 200 homes with assigned block captains for each street.

Over the years Friends of Old Sugar Land coordinated efforts with the city of Sugar Land to install old fashioned lamp posts throughout the neighborhood, raised funds and installed neighborhood entrance signs and partnered with KSLB and Fort Bend Corp to make yearly repairs to senior citizens' homes.

We are a neighborhood of the past:  sharing horse drawn hay rides at Christmas, singing Christmas carols to our senior citizens, raising funds for a Brandon, a neighborhood boy with brain cancer, coordinating and providing food and funds for months for a neighborhood family in need, welcoming home with yellow ribbons one of our neighborhood soldiers, sharing recipes from generations in our neighborhood cookbook, assisting in fund raisers for Lakeview Auditorium renovations, hosting National Night Out on each street, hosting "Chillin' and Grillin' in The Hill", involvement in local political elections and working with the city to improve any concerns within our area.

Over the years we have gone from sharing our homemade breads, jams, pickles to sharing ideas with developers for the redevelopment of Imperial Sugar

We are a strong, active community with an unforgettable past and unbelievable future!
